A UK company has developed a truck overload warning system that can be fitted to a vehicle’s load weighing system.

Leicester-based Amber Valley Developments says the warning system will make workplaces safer for transport companies. The company has already designed a number of innovations  for trucks and large vehicles extensively throughout Europe.

The unit takes its inputs from the load weighing system fitted to the vehicle. When the vehicle is operating below capacity, a green LED light is in operation. But when the capacity is higher an amber LED light comes on. The red LED light and an alarm is automatically operated if the vehicle is overloaded.

Designer David Morewood said: “Overloading a heavy duty vehicle can be done without realising it. This real-time indicator keeps the workforce safe when loading to tight deadlines.”
