TillageLive2014-6

Preparations are well under way for next month’s Tillage-Live event on Wednesday 14 September at Monks Kirby, Rugby, Warwickshire.

Visitors to the biennial show will be able to see the latest equipment demonstrated in working plots – including ploughs, cultivation and seedbed preparation kit, drills and other farm machinery for the arable farmer.

A demonstration arena at the event will give exhibitors the opportunity to make one run in a machine, as an accompanying commentary explains the benefits and features of that particular piece of kit to a wider audience.

Working plots

Showgoers will be able to visit larger plots to see machines at work across a wider area. The event will also include specific areas for operators to get a hands-on drive of the latest sprayers in working conditions.

Show goers will also be able to gain hands-off experience

of using guidance and auto-steer equipped tractors and machines. As well as the latest equipment at work, the event gives visitors the chance to discuss new ideas with industry-leading experts.

A Knowledge Trail is expected to prove particularly popular. It will include four specialist areas based around the hot topics of soil mapping, precision guidance, cultural weed control and soil health.

Analysis

Soil mapping will look at in-field analysis, the different techniques available and what mapping can reveal about soil health. Precision guidance will have an emphasis on integrated guidance systems and how these can cut input costs.

With pressure mounting on active ingredients in agrochemicals, Cultural weed control, the event’s crop protection partner BASF will be on hand to give sensible and practical advice about the best way to control weeds in arable crops.

Meanwhile, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board will be launching a best practice guide for drainage maintenance and renewal. The AHDB stand will feature independent drainage and soil specialist Philip Wright.

Other exhibitors include Agri-Linc, who will be demonstrating the new Proforge DisruptaMax – a heavy duty min-till stubble cultivator available in trailed or mounted, which allows for deep work with choice of either tyre or steel packers.

The Tillage-Live site is just up the old Fosse Way from J2 of the M6. Once off the motorway please follow the road signs to visitors entrance to the event. For full event details, including tickets, visit tillage-live.uk.com.
