TV chef Rachel Green was joined by 120 women at a special event to mark the launch of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Women in Agriculture (LNWIA) group.

Held on 16 October at Doddington Hall, near Lincoln, the get together raised almost £2,000 for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance. Guests networked with other women from the region’s rural economy. A panel of speakers talked about the career challenges they have overcome.

Ms Green said: “As someone who comes from 14 generations of Lincolnshire farmers, I was proud to support this event. It was fantastic to see this gathering orchestrated, particularly with such inspiring speakers. I only wish it had happened years ago.”

The event attracted women working across the farming and agriculture sectors in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire – and from as far afield as Hertfordshire. The LNWIA has been set up by a consortium of local businesses made up of AMC, Forrester Boyd chartered accountants, Langleys solicitors, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society and Savills.

Savills rural associate Lucie Muddiman said: “There are many talented business women working across the agricultural sector in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and this group has been set up to offer them a platform from which to network and develop contacts with like-minded people.

“As farmers adapt to a new agricultural landscape and look at ways to overcome environmental challenges while meeting consumer demands, it is now more important than ever to ensure our sector is as diverse and as balanced as possible.”

AMC regional agriculture manager Jo Lampkowski said: “When we launched this event, the demand for tickets was overwhelming. We knew there was a need for something like this in the region, but we didn’t realise just how much.”

The Women In Agriculture network provides support in what can be an isolating industry. It is hoped it will continue to be a success and a platform for all women in the Lincolnshire region involved in agriculture to support one another.
