Industry gears up for ‘bumper’ Midlands Machinery Show

Thousands of farmers are expected to attend the Midlands Machinery Show this month to view the latest tractors, industry products and agricultural machinery.

The sixth annual two-day event returns to the Newark Showground on 20-21 November. This year’s line-up includes some 300 trade stands in the show’s indoor and outdoor exhibition space – and a number of technical seminars.

Top names in attendance include Chafer Sprayers, Chandlers, RC Setchfields, Weaving Machinery, Big Bale North, and lead sponsors Flac & Le Roy and Woldmarsh – with a range of dealers offering ‘ride and drive’ experiences with the latest 4x4s, hybrids and pickups.

Seminar topics

Last year 10,000 visitors attended the show, which is organised by the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society. NRoSO and BASIS points will be available for attending some of the technical seminars at the event.

Themes addressed by the seminar programme will include: recycling biosolids to benefit business and the environment, the benefits of soil mapping, using water sustainably, planning permission for agricultural land, safety at work and tyre choice for agricultural vehicles.

Defra will host a dedicated session to talk about their proposed changes for farming post-Brexit, including the new environmental land management scheme. This will provide a platform for young people to share regional insight and have their say to shape the future of the industry.

Geared towards small and medium-sized agricultural businesses, professional development is also on the agenda, with show organisers awarding four apprenticeship grants on the day to local agricultural engineering students.

Machinery and innovation

Event manager Elizabeth Halsall said a diverse range of machinery and innovation would be showcased. She added: “We’re looking forward to seeing all the visitors and exhibitors, it promises to be a fantastic show this year.

“We know from past events how important it is to have a place to see products firsthand and get to meet suppliers in person. And for our exhibitors, there’s no better way to meet customers and showcase their latest products and services.”

For the first time, visitors can pre-register their attendance online and beat the queues on show day. For full details – and to register your free place – visit www.midlandsmachineryshow.com.
